Introduction 

The 13th International Symposium on Calcium Signaling in China will be held in Wuhan, Hubei from May 14 to 18, 2024. This conference is co-sponsored by the Cellular Calcium Signaling Academic Subgroup and Neurobiophysics Academic Subgroup of Biophysical Society of China, co-organized by the Hubei Biophysical Society and hosted by School of Life Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Technology and  Key Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics, the Ministry of Education.

The International Symposium on Calcium Signaling in China (SCSC) is a biennial academic conference jointly organized by scientists at home and abroad. The first conference was held in Xuzhou in 1987, and was held every three years thereafter (Tianjin in 1990, Shijiazhuang in 1993, Nanjing in 1996, and Xuzhou in 1999). The format of the conference was reformed at the 6th Qingdao Conference in 2006, and it will be held every two years with reference to the Gordon Conference model. The 7th to 12th sessions were held in Yichang, Beijing, Huangshan, Yichun, Zunyi and Shenyang in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 respectively. Among them, the 8th Beijing Conference was a joint conference of "New Horizons in Calcium Signaling" organized by the Chinese Biophysical Society and the American Biophysical Society. Richard Tsien, Wolf Almers, John Lederer, and dozens of internationally renowned experts attended the conference. .

The 13th academic conference will be held in Wuhan in May 2024, aiming to provide an international, high-level communication and cooperation platform for experts, scholars, and researchers in the field of calcium signal research,  to showcase the latest research results at home and abroad.  and to promote the rapid development of this field.

第13届国际钙信号和细胞功能研讨会将于2024年5月14日—5月18日在湖北武汉举行，此次会议由中国生物物理学会细胞钙信号分会、神经生物物理分会共同主办，湖北省生物物理学会协办、华中科技大学生命科学与技术学院和分子生物物理教育部重点实验室承办。

国际钙信号和细胞功能研讨会（Symposium on Calcium Signaling in China, SCSC）是由海内外科学家联合举办的每两年一次的学术大会。首届会议于1987年在徐州召开，之后每3年举行一次(1990年天津、1993年石家庄、1996年南京、1999年徐州)。2006年第6届青岛会议上对会议形式进行了改革，参照Gordon Conference模式之后每两年举行一次。7-12届会议于2008年、2010年、2012年、2014年、2016年、2018年分别在宜昌、北京、黄山、宜春、遵义、沈阳举办。其中第8届北京会议是中国生物物理学会和美国生物物理学会联办的“New Horizons in Calcium Signaling”合办的联席会议，Richard Tsien、Wolf Almers、John Lederer、等数十位国际著名专家参会。

2024年5月将于武汉召开的是第13届学术会议，旨在为钙信号研究领域的专家、学者、研究人员提供一个国际化、高水平的交流与合作平台，展现国内外最新的研究成果，推动这一领域的快速发展。
